Our campuses are located throughout Massachusetts in the communities of Attleboro, Braintree, Charlestown, Stoughton, and Worcester.
The EKG Technician program at Health Training Center can be completed in approximately eight weeks. Through the eight weeks of clinical training, students will be provided instruction in the on many topics appropriate to work as an EKG Technician. Some of the skills they will receive training in are how to correctly place electrodes, operate the EKG (ECG) machine in order to produce a quality reading of the electrical activity of the heart, and to properly read and interpret the test results. They will also be provided instruction on performing CPR on adults, children, and infants as well as how to operate an AED Heartsaver.
After their successful completion of the program, students should be prepared to work in an entry-level position in a physician’s office, clinic, hospital, laboratory, or other medical setting.
EKG technicians are trained to monitor cardiac health and stress levels in patients using electrocardiographs. They work in health clinics, doctors' offices, and hospitals, usually performing under the direct supervision of licensed cardiologists.
As you complete your Health Training Center program and look forward to entering the allied health field, it is important to prioritize becoming certified. Becoming certified in your field says a lot about you. It shows that you are dedicated to providing excellent patient care and continuing to grow and improve, and many employers want their employees to be certified.
After successfully completing our EKG Technician program, graduates will be eligible to take the national certification exam to become a Certified EKG Technician through the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians and/or the National Center for Competency Testing.

An Electrocardiograph (EKG) Technician records the actions of the heart through a graphical tracing of the electrical activities that occur during heartbeats. Records derived from the electrocardiograms are vital in diagnosing any ailments as well as ensuring the progress of the patient.
The need for EKG Technicians can be found in almost any medical setting. EKG technicians are able to explore employment opportunities in healthcare environments such as hospitals, clinics, emergency and trauma centers, private physician's offices, out-patient and extended care facilities, nursing care facilities, and rehabilitation centers.
The EKG courses are Introduction to Healthcare and CPR and EKG Techniques. Each course is designed to cover a different aspect of the EKG Technician and CPR program training to prepare students for certification and the healthcare field. This program consists of two courses and can also be taken along with Phlebotomy or as a part of the Clinical Medical Assistant Certificate program.
No. The EKG Technician course is comprehensive enough that no Externship is required. However, in most Medical Assistant Externships, EKGs are performed by the student.

The Medical Assistant program at Health Training Center can be completed in just 20 weeks. The program provides instruction on the clinical skills needed to work in entry-level positions in a variety of medical settings. Our students receive instruction on Phlebotomy, EKG, and clinical medical assisting techniques.
The Patient Care Technician program at Health Training Center is a career advancement program for a licensed CNA, HHA or EMT. If you are not licensed as a CNA, HHA or EMT, this program is available for you as a Cardio-Phlebotomy Technician.
The program can be completed in just 15 weeks. Students receive direction from experienced instructors on phlebotomy, EKGs, basic medical, lab and exam procedures, and basic patient care. Graduates of this program can become Clinical Medical Assistants by completing one additional course and the MA externship. Upon successful completion of the program, students should be prepared for entry-level job opportunities in a variety of medical settings.
The Health Training Center Cardio-Phlebotomy Technician program can be completed in just 15 weeks. The program focuses on cross-training students in Phlebotomy and EKG techniques. Graduates of this program may become Clinical Medical Assistants by completing one additional course and the Medical Assistant externship. Graduates of this program should be prepared for entry-level job opportunities in a variety of medical settings.
The Phlebotomy Technician program at Health Training Center can be completed in just 11 weeks. The program provides instruction on the correct ways to draw blood in order than students complete the program prepared to work in entry-level positions in a variety of medical settings. Our students receive instruction on topics such as venipuncture procedures, specimen collection, blood collection, body systems, infection Control, and skin puncture techniques.
